Energy measures in national recovery plans: vote and press conference

Plenary will vote at 11.00 on draft rules to require EU countries to include energy saving measures, support for clean energy production and the diversification of energy supply in their national recovery plans. The outcome of the vote will serve as the Parliament’s negotiating mandate in talks with EU countries. EP President Metsola and the three rapporteurs will present the result in a press conference after the vote.

Cybersecurity: new EU rules to ensure resilience

Following a debate starting around 10.00 with EC Vice-President Vestager, MEPs are set to give their final green light to tighter cybersecurity obligations to ensure that the EU is better prepared against possible incidents and attacks. “Essential sectors” such as energy, transport, banking, health, digital infrastructure and public administration will have to take additional measures to protect themselves.

In brief

Structural and institutional racism in the EU. In a debate at 9.00 with Commissioner Dalli, MEPs will look into the challenges minorities, migrants, and LGBTQI persons face in the EU. The draft report on which MEPs will vote at 11.00 asks for hate speech to be made a crime under EU law.

Votes

From 11.00, MEPs will vote, among others, on:

a new tool to counteract foreign distortive subsidies;

updated EU sustainability reporting rules for multinationals;

Croatia’s accession to Schengen;

an EU video game strategy, and

the appointments of the Chair and a member of the Single Resolution Board.
